Windows NT Setup
Configuring RAS
Setting up Dial-up Networking
You need to be logged in as Administrator for most of this setup.
STEP 1: Configuring RAS
First, find out if RAS is already installed. Open Control Panel and double click the "Network" icon. Select the "Services" tab. Look for "Remote Access Services". If it is not listed, click the "Add" button, and click "Remote Access Services" once to highlight it. Click "OK". You may need your NT CDROM.
Highlight "Remote Access Services", then click "Properties". Click "Add" if you do not see your modem listed under "Remote Access Setup". Select the modem you would like to use, then click "OK".
Once your modem is listed, click the "Configure" button, and make sure the option selected is "Dial out only". Click "OK" to continue.
Back on the "Remote Access Setup" screen, click the "Network" button. Make sure "TCP/IP" is selected. Click "OK", then "Continue", the "OK" again. If prompted to restart, go ahead and restart the system.
STEP 2: Setting up Dial-up Networking
Open "My Computer" and double click the "Dial-Up Networking" icon. Click "New" to add a new connection. On the next screen, enter "Internet Frontier" for the connection name, and click "Next".
On the following screen, check all three boxes, then "Next".   On the next screen, enter an Internet Frontier dial-in phone number. Only enter the area code if you will need it. Click "Next".   You will be asked what type of script to use. Choose "None", then "Next".
The next screen asks what your IP address will be. It should be 0.0.0.0, as your address will be assigned to you when you login. Click "Next".
On the next screen, select DHCP for assignment of name servers. Leave the WINS server address all zeros, and click "Next". Your new connection is created.
Open "My Computer" and double click the "Dial-Up Networking" icon. Select Internet Frontier and then click the "More" button. Click the tab labeled "Security" and make sure the option is set to "Accept any authentication including plain text".
If any other option is selected, you will not be able to connect.
Click "OK" to finish.
To dial, double click "Internet Frontier" in the Dial-up Networking folder.
