Using Communicator to Retrieve and Send Email

Communicator can be used to send and retrieve email. Open the "Edit" menu in Communicator and choose "Preferences". In the "Category" box select the "Mail & Groups" option. Then click the "Mail Server" and change the settings to:




Your "Mail server user name:" is provided by Internet Frontier, and it is the same as your login name. Your "Outgoing (SMTP) mail server" is smtp.ifn.net and your "Incoming mail server:" is pop.ifn.net . The "Mail server type:" needs to be selected as "POP3".

Next, click the option "Identity" under the "Mail & Groups" section. Enter your email address in the "Email Address" box. All the other fields are optional.

When you retrieve email, by opening the "Communicator" menu and choosing "Messenger Mailbox", Netscape will ask you to enter you mail password (same as your login password).
