Windows ME (Millenium Edition) Setup
Click on START, then on SETTINGS, then on DIALUP NETWORKING. Double click on the icon called "Make New
Connection" to start the setup program.
On the first screen, type a name for the connection ( Internet Frontier
might not be a bad idea ). Click "Next".
On the second screen, enter the phone number that will be local for you.
(If we have not already enabled your account,
temporarily enter your own phone number so that you can proceed to the
next step.) Click NEXT.
Now click "Finish" and the new connection will appear in the Dial-up
Networking window.
While still in the
Dial-up Networking window, click once on the new Internet Frontier icon to
highlight it, then click on FILE, then on CREATE SHORTCUT. When Windows asks "Place shortcut on desktop instead?" answer
"Yes".
You are now ready to dial! Double click the Shortcut on your desktop (or
the icon in the Dial-up Networking folder). Enter your 'userid' and 'password'
in the appropriate boxes (remember that they are case-sensitive; upper case and lower
case are not the same). Put a check mark next to 'Save Password' if you want your
system to save the password (so you don't have to type it in every time). Then click the 'Connect' button.
As soon as you
see the status change to "Logging Onto Network", you can open Netscape or any of
your favorite internet software and go for it!
